Alessandro Lugli is a Professor of Tumor Pathology at the Institute of Pathology of the University of Bern since 2011. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zürich, Switzerland in 1996. He continued with his Residency at the Department of Internal Medicine at Cantonal Hospital of Baden, Switzerland. He successfully defended his Doctoral Thesis at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland in 1999.
He became Professor of Tumor Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland in 2011. Starting in 2021, he is Chief Pathologist and Head of Gastrointestinal Pathology. His research’s focus includes gastrointestinal tumors, especially the role of tumor budding in colorectal cancer where he is the author of several publications and presentations. He is also a member of several medical societies and since 2010, secretary of the Swiss Association of Gastrointestinal Pathology (SAGIP).
